Our Family

Welcome to our journey!

We are a family of four expatriates originally from Montreal, Canada, which we left in 2007 to discover the world.  From 2007 to 2010, we had the chance to live on the wonderful Reunion Island, before coming back to Canada for less than a year.  Then, we moved again to another island, Mauritius, where we still live today.  We are looking to move to Ecuador and be part of the Las Olas Estate where we recently bought a property.  We haven’t decided yet when we will be moving there and this blog is intended to keep track of our project and how the development of Las Olas real estate project will impact our lives.

I was born in 1974, my wife in 1978, our daughter in 2002 and our son in 2004.  We also have a fifth member in our family, Zara, our chocolate Labrador we just love!  Not sure I want to say more about us.  Better if you just keep reading our story don’t you think?

***Update May 4th 2016***

We moved to Ecuador in September 2015 and started to enjoy our new life in Bahia de Caraquez, waiting for our new house in Las Olas Ecuador to be built, somewhere in 2017.

On April 16th 2016 around 7pm, destiny changed our lives forever.  An earthquake of a magnitude of 7.8 struck the region of Manabi.  Our building, which we thought was well built since it was the newest in town, completely collapsed within seconds, killing my 12-year-old son Arthur, my lovely wife Jennifer, and our dog Zara.

Laurie-Ann and I were miraculously found alive in the rubbles, by friends and neighbors, with only minor injuries. Lily, a dog we adopted one month before the tragedy was also able to escape and was found three days after looking for us around the debris.  With the help of friends, family and Canadian authorities, we've been able to fly back to Montreal, Canada on April 21st.  We are currently healing and mourning surrounded by family and friends, but we will be back to Ecuador to pursue our family's dreams soon.
