Future House

Future House

When our kids started to learn Spanish, we told them we would bring them on a big trip to South America so they can test and improve their language skills.  The idea quickly switched to “where could we buy a vacation home on the coast?” to “where could we move next?”.  Since the four of us are golfers, and my wife and I would love to have the opportunity to live on a golf estate, we started to look at real estate golf developments in Central and South America.

From Mexico, to Dominican Republic, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Chile, Uruguay, etc. we finally discovered the Las Olas project in Ecuador.  When we did the math, Las Olas was the top real estate of our list.  Not only the project was financially accessible for us, it was also one of the most eco-conscious and one of the most complete in terms of amenities and activities.

After visiting the Las Olas property in November 2014, we decided to buy a 3-bedroom house and a 2 bedroom hillside condominium, both offering an amazing ocean view.  We think of moving there full-time somewhere in 2016.

*** Update July 2015:  We are finally planning to move to Ecuador in September 2015.  Our house and condo won't be built, but we will be looking to rent something in Bahia de Caraquez in the meantime.  Follow our blog for all details.
